Irregular stone paving and a timber deck set into a fresh Canterbury garden

02 — Stone and Turf

Paving, stonework and turf laid right

Clean lines, good drainage and lawns that hold up to a Canterbury season, built for a Darfield section rather than a showroom.

The craft

Set once, set properly

Paving and stonework live under a Canterbury winter as much as a summer barbecue, so the base work gets the same care as the finish. We compact and grade before a single stone goes down, set falls so water moves away from the house, and edge every bed and path so lines stay clean instead of creeping into the lawn. Turf goes down on properly prepared ground so it roots in and holds, not just green for the first month.

What's covered

Three trades, one crew

01

Paving and stonework

Patios, paths and courtyards laid in stone and paving, set on a properly compacted base so edges stay tight and surfaces stay flat through the seasons.

02

Retaining and edging

Retaining walls and clean edging that hold a level change or a garden bed in place, keeping soil, stone and lawn exactly where you put them.

03

Turf and lawns

New lawns laid on prepared ground with drainage and levels sorted first, so the turf roots in properly instead of just looking green for a season.
